Inspired by...Kate White

I just picked up my Cosmopolitan magazine from June and read a fabulous letter from the editor, Kate White. For some reason I hadn't read it yet, and I'm glad. On a day when I have been running from one thing to another, changing hats more times than the monkeys in "Caps for Sale," Kate's letter was exactly what I needed.

The letter praises a big time LA agent for arriving to a meeting late in a calm and put together manner, and not dwelling on her tardiness. Instead she quickly apol

ogized and got right down to business--keeping in mind that the meeting was not about her, but involved other people who were just as booked as she was that day. Loo

king gorgeous and presenting herself in an organized fashion, she focused on the tasks at hand and kept her mind focused on the moment she was living in currently. There was no peeking at the Blackberry, no looking at her watch or fidgeting as she thought of everything else she needed to accomplish that day. When she arrived, she was present, and everything else disappeared for the time being.

There is a brilliant lesson to be learned from this woman, and it is one I plan to spend more time working and meditating on myself:

Be where you are.

By making yourself present you not only show basic respect and common courtesy to those you are with, but you give yourself the space to be the most attentive, creative and inspired person you are capable of being. You accomplish more, and you feel more satisfied

. Not to mention people like you more. We like that.

Thanks, Kate!
